FAQs

  • We started life as The Yurt Farm but now we don’t have any yurts so we needed a new name. We love making things with wood so we hope this name can take us anywhere.

  • Sorry but because we are a working farm we are unable to allow dogs. We can recommend a place for your furry friends to stay nearby.

  • Yes. The Moon Cocoon has room for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children. If you’d like to bring a tent we charge £15 per adult and £5 for children (under 16). You can either add these when you make your booking or by emailing us at thea@thewoodstars.co.uk. If you are bringing more than four extra people please get in touch.

  • You can arrive anytime after 4pm on your day of arrival. We have a self check-in process but please understand that there is no lighting to guide you to the accommodation so you will need a good torch if you are arriving after dark.

  • Please make sure you leave by 10am on your day of departure to give us plenty of time to make everything extra special for our next guests.

  • The kitchen in the cabin is well equipped. You’ll find everything you need to prepare a feast for a family of four including salt and pepper, organic teas, instant coffee and olive oil. If you are coming with a larger group please bring additional crockery and cutlery.

There is a 4 ring gas hob in the cabin as well as a pizza oven and campfire outside. We hope you will really enjoy cooking over the campfire, breakfast waffles are our favourite!

  • Yes. We have a lovely traditional gastropub in the village called The Hungry Ram around 1.5 miles walk along country lanes.

If you fancy a four mile walk through the woods you can visit our favourite little pub Rhos yr Hafod in Cross Inn.

  • We have a stunning circular wood fired stone bath set in a beautiful tiny timber framed building with views into the forest. Not a classic hot tub but we think it’s even better!

  • We are 20 minutes from some stunningly beautiful beaches. There are also some further away that are definitely worth exploring. You can walk the coastal path of Cardigan Bay to visit them all or we can recommend the ones we think you’d love most.

  • You have the whole field to yourself but sound can really travel here so to be courteous to our neighbours please keep the volume down.

  • We really want to support you to use public transport so we’re happy to collect you from our closest bus stops. The nearest train station is Aberystwyth where you can catch the bus to Penuwch (around 1.5 miles away) or Llanrhystud (20 minute’s drive from us). Another option is to take the train to Carmarthen and then a bus to Lampeter (20 minute’s drive from us). Please get in touch at thea@thewoodstars.co.uk if you’d like to arrange a lift from Penuwch, Llanrhystud or Lampeter.

  • You would need to arrange a food delivery before your stay. We recommend getting a delivery from Watson and Pratts in Lampeter for organic vegetables and groceries. Most major supermarkets also deliver here but you’d have to organise this carefully.

  • The nearest village shop is in Cross Inn (4 miles from us). We also have the excellent Blaencamel organic vegetable farm around 5 miles away. If you arrive without any food we usually recommend you head straight for the picturesque Harbour town of Aberaeron where you’ll find a little well-stocked supermarket, some excellent delicatessens and very good fish and chips!
